Rebecca Crumrine Rieder


One of about forty attorneys in Georgia who have attained Fellowship in the American Academy of Matrimonial Law, Rebecca Crumrine Rieder is recognized by her peers and the legal community as one of the top rated domestic attorneys in Georgia.  As an AV rated attorney, she practices in both the Atlanta and Augusta offices of Hedgepeth, Heredia & Rieder LLC.  Becca is a past chair of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia.  She is a member of the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association, and is a founding member and past chair of the Family Law Section of DeKalb Bar Association. She served as chair of the Dekalb Bar Association in 2014 and currently serves the Atlanta Bar Association Family Law Section as an At-Large member.  She is a member of Georgia Association of Woman Lawyers; Leadership Academy of 2012; a member of the Lawyers Club of Atlanta; the Charles Longstreet Weltner Family Law Inn of Court – Barrister; the Fulton County Division Task Force and previously sat on the State of Georgia Electronic Child Support Worksheet Taskforce.

Law & Politics and Atlanta Magazine recognizes Becca as a “Super Lawyer” in the area of Family Law, as well as one of Georgia’s "Top 100 Lawyers" and “Top 50 Women Lawyers;” and Georgia Trend Magazine recognizes Becca as “Legal Elite” in the area of Family Law. Previous to Becca’s recognition as a “Super Lawyer,” Law & Politics and Atlanta Magazine “Rising Star” in the area of Family Law in all years since 2007 the recognition was bestowed. The State of Georgia Judicial Nominating Committee recommended Becca to Governor Deal as a shortlist candidate for a seat on the DeKalb County Superior Court in 2011 and again in 2015.

Prior to practicing law, Becca taught middle and high school at Davidson Fine Arts School in Augusta, Georgia. She received the system nomination for the Walt Disney/McDonald’s American Teacher Award, a PTA Academic Scholarship for Summer Study with the National Holocaust Museum, and was nominated as a Sallie Mae First Year Teacher Nominee.  She continues her teaching career as an adjunct professor at Atlanta's John Marshall Law School.

Prior to forming Hedgepeth, Heredia & Rieder, LLC, Becca practiced family law as a shareholder at Davis, Matthews & Quigley; and, as an associate at Warner, Mayoue, Bates & Nolen, P.C., both in Atlanta. Prior to her practice of family law, Becca practiced insurance defense with Carter & Ansley, LLP.  Becca received her undergraduate degree from the University of the South in 1991, her MEd from the University of Georgia in 1994, and her JD degree from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2001.  Becca spent her formative years in Augusta, Georgia, graduating from Augusta Preparatory School.  Her immediate family continue to reside in Augusta.

Becca frequently authors materials and speaks on professional and family law matters throughout the state and the country, including prior speaking engagements with the Superior Court Judges Council and Continuing Legal Education Seminars sponsored by the State Bar of Georgia, as well appearing as a legal expert on Nancy Grace.  Becca publishes often, including “Equitable Division of Property in Georgia: What’s Mine is Mine and What’s Ours is Mine Too,” published by The Law Review of Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School¸ Rebecca L. Crumrine & Rachel K. Miller, Vol. IV (2011).

Becca believes in giving back to her community professionally and personally.  Becca has extensive community involvement including volunteer leadership roles with a number of non-profits throughout the city. She is a member of the Leadership DeKalb class of 2012, and volunteers for Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and DeKalb Volunteer Lawyers Foundation as a Pro Bono Guardian ad Litem for families in need, as well as serves on the Board for the Dekalb Volunteer Lawyers Foundation.

Becca resides in Buckhead with her husband.
